I made some small ASF-file videos with my camera. I have windows XP
(SP 2) and Windows mediaplayer 11 on my computer. When I play the ASF
files I don't get any sound. When I play the same file with VLC-player
I get sound and video. When I use Windows Movie maker I have the same
ptroblem: video and no sound. Can someone help me to solve this
prtoblem? Thanx,
Greetings,

VLC-player uses its own built-in codecs. WMP11 uses the ones you have
installed in Windows. The manufacturer of your camera (or the manual)
should tell you what codec it uses for the audio portion of the file, and
hopefully offer you a place to get it.
If not, you need a file analyzer like MediaInfo
(http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net) to tell you what codecs were used to
create your asf file, so you can locate and install that missing audio
codec in Windows. Ideally, installing missing codecs is an automatic
process in WMP11; in practice it often isn't.
