cut audio CD tracks into smaller pieces

Hi; most minor editing task here, I have audio CDs recorded myself
live, with like 3 or 4 tracks on them with like a dozen songs in each
track, which I would like to transfer to a bunch of wmas, one song per
track. i'm beginning to get the feeling media player doesn't know how
to do this; at least I don't, with media player. any suggestions?
can't afford anything that costs more than free, if other software is
necessary.
