Hi!
thank you for the hint! I'll try it!
But it would be really stupid if the problem really concerns copyrights, because (1) everything I do with my pc is my buisness not MS's, and then (2) most of the movies I'm trying to play are made with my own webcam and then compressed with divx or xvid codec, so they are mine and just mine!!!
Bye.

I'm encountering this strange problem while opening AVI files with WMP 11... the player can't play any AVI movie because it can't find codecs!!! But the codecs are installed and working!!!! Any other player can find and use them easily indeed!
I have no problem with media player classic, ZoomPlayer, etc...
The audio/video codecs installed are FFDShow (but I also tried with XviD, DivX, etc.) and they work fine even with WMP 11 on other PCs.
Can anybody please help me??
Thanks!
OS is Windows XP Home Ed. SP2.
Do as I did.. REMOVE all WMP11 Update in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
I myself think the one that is the Problem , Is the One That Checks to make sure You Have Rights to play the movie.. For the life of Me, I cannot figure out Why Microsoft Wants to make sure You are Not a pirate.
