Windows Media Player 11 Broken

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I ran Microsoft Update on my Windows XP laptop and upgraded to Media Player
11. After that, I can't run most of my mp3 videos. I get the same message
"Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For
additional assistance, click Web Help." No further info.....

The files are fine, as I don't have any problem viewing them with Quicktime.
I tried rolling back to Media Player 10, but now I have the same problem
there.

HELP!
