Codec problem

Hi --

I'm using WMP 10 (having given up and uninstalled WMP 11). The situation is
that if I double-click on a single mp3 file, WMP opens and plays perfectly
and sounds great. However, if I try to create a playlist of mp3 files, I
get an error window indicating that a codec is missing. Can anyone suggest
what the problem might be?

Also, is there any work around to duplicate WinAmp's nice "Play Folder"
option?

If no one has an answer, I would love a suggestion for some other player
with the Play Folder option but without WinAmp's background noise when
playing mp3 files.
