Speaker sound after installing WMP11

The sound from my speakers (no special speakers, just the ones that came
with my computer) changed after I installed WMP11. There is some good to
that -- they sound more stereo, but there also is an echo-type sound no
matter what I play that I need to get rid of.

I've adjust the "master volume" options, but that did nothing -- although I
am really not sure what type of control I need to change.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Liz
