There's nothing specific about your failure that would lead anyone at any
skill level to be able to provide effective commentary about your error.
Can mplay32.exe still play AVIs on your system... ?
Since there's just nothing interesting or juicy in the information you've
provided, I don't think anyone here would be able to help you effectively.
It sounds like you want actual technical support:

"More Information" link information:
0xC00D1199: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. You may encounter this error
message for one of the following reasons:
a.. The file type is not supported by the Player. The following table
lists the file types supported by the Player. If the file type you are
trying to play is included in this table, then the file may have been
encoded by using a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If
this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.
b.. The file type is supported by the Player, but the file was compressed
by using a codec that is not supported by the Player.
c.. The file type is supported, but you are trying to play it in a way
that is not supported by the Player. For example, you may have attempted
to drag a DVD file with a .vob extension from a DVD to the Windows Media
Player icon. Or you may have attempted to open a .vob file by clicking
Open on the File menu.
d.. You are trying to play one part of a multipart file. Use a newsreader
or other program to combine the files, and then try again.
The following table lists the file types (formats) supported by Windows
Media Player.
File type (format)
File name extension
Music CD Playback (CD audio)
.cda
Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF)
.aif, .aifc, and .aiff
Windows Media audio and video files
.asf, .asx, .wax, .wm, .wma, .wmd, .wmp, .wmv, .wmx, .wpl, and .wvx
Windows audio and video files
.avi and .wav
Windows Media Player skins
.wmz
Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG)
.mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2, .mpa, .mpe, .mp2v*, and .mpv2
Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI)
.mid, .midi, and .rmi
AU (UNIX)
.au and .snd
MP3
.mp3 and .m3u
DVD video
.vob
Macromedia Flash
.swf
*To play .mp2v files, you must have a software or hardware DVD decoder
installed on your computer.
Notes
a.. To play DVDs, you must have a DVD-ROM drive, and a software or
hardware DVD decoder installed on your computer. If you do not have a
compatible DVD decoder installed, DVD-related commands, options, and
controls do not appear in the Player and you cannot play DVDs. By default,
Windows does not include a DVD decoder. For more information about DVD
decoders, see Windows Help.
b.. DVD playback is only available on select versions of Windows.

20. If you hit a crash and get the opportunity to send an error report,
do so! Then go to the Event Viewer in Administrative Tools (you can
manually run this with the commandline '%windir%\system32\mmc.exe"
"%windir%\SYSTEM32\eventvwr.msc" /s' if you need to). Go to the
Application log in Event Viewer. Look for the "Error" in that list - there
should be two for your latest crash. The most recent one should have a
"Fault bucket" number. What is that number? (If these steps are confusing
to you, Step #6 here is another/easier write-up.) There will be another
Error Event in that list that will have the Faulting Application - all of
that information is *also* helpful. Please note that if you do not have a
Crash Bucket number (which you can only get by sending up the crash
report), it will be much harder to assess your issue. HungApp crash
buckets are also mostly useless to me at least. (A developer might find
WinDbG helpful to debug this crash, but that requires pretty high skill.)
Not Applicable
21. What WMP6 version does this page detect?
Windows Media Player is version 6.4 or higher.
22. What WMP7+ version does this page detect?
Windows Media Player is version 9.0.0.3349.

I never saw any attachment - perhaps I'm behind something that stripped
that
out? Plain text in your post might work better.......

...OK. I have attached my answers ot the questions from the link you
supplied below. Please see the attached Word doc.
Right now I'm at wits end to understand and solve this problem. I'm
willing to install Windows Media Player 10, but did not want to until I
had corrected this problem since, as you already mentioned, I feel that
the problem is deeper than WMP.
Really would appreciate any help or "Do this" suggestions you might
have......RDK

If WMP can't play c:\windows\clock.avi , the chances are about one in
a
million that any codec pack could correct whatever is going on.
There's
a
difference between "codec missing" and "AVIs not playing at all" -
codecs
should only be able to address the former, but codec packs can *break*
the
latter.
I supplied this link earlier:
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#isolate
which really covers the wide range of interesting questions here.

...OK, I downloaded the "Xvid Koepi" CODEC and ran the install.
Rebooted
and tried Window Media Player 9 again. Same error, same message.
Now
what?
I tried reinstalling WMP9 and it still gives the same error
message......RDK

AVI is an open format that lets you plug in a huuuuuuge variety of
codecs - over 800 at last check.

....Yes, I agree that I have a CODEC problem. But first, since AVI
is a
Microsoft supported format and since all the other file types seem
to
be
OK, why can I just find the AVI CODEC and reinstall it?
Also I really like to know how this could happen. I would
understand
if
my MPEG or DivX files stopped playing, but AVI???

Try installing an Xvid/Divx codec (e.g. Xvid by Koepie, works fine
here). Seems ur having a codec problem.
