I have the same problem with sharepoint without SSL.
If you try to play a movie as a reader in sharepoint you get an error
(access denied).
If you try to play a movie as a colaborator you get an authentication box.
If you asociate the movie extension with other movie player like "power
dvd", the problem is gone.
Do you know any workaround?

I have a sharepoint site that is https. On the site I have some video files..
When I try to click on the file to play it I get a second login popup.
If I click cancel, I get error message as
'Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you
might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy
settings might not be correct.'
If I access another internal site from a different environment which is http
and not https I can play the video file in windows media player perfectly.
So is the error because I am trying to access something from a secured
sharepoint to which Windows Media Player does not have access? If this is so,
how can I get rid of this error?
