Re: Getting rid of SP3 download indicator.

I don't get that other message... and wouldn't know what it meant if I did.

I have found that I can check the updates being installed and pick them
all.... just leave the SP3 one alone. As the big service packs are a
collection of the others, I don't feel I'm missing anything.

Hey, good to hear you PapaJohn. I guess I can put up with that little
reminder popping up as long as I don't say "go" again as it locks up the
system so I have to just sit and wait for the four to five hours.
You didn't say whether you knew what that other little window with all
that
gibberish about "parameters cannot be null ---etc." was all about. I
wondered
whether it was a part of refusing SP3 that just came up later. Wierd.

I've run into the same issue on my Windows Media Center XP....the first
issue about taking hours to get an 'Access Denied' error message with no
further clues. I've done it at least a half dozen times.

Wish I knew!!! I've run for months with the little reminder about having
software updagtes to do, but have given up on trying again.

I'm running Windows Home XP SP2. I tried to download SP3 (it took
almost
two
hours), then it said "Access Denied". That's all. It then took two
hours
to
reverse and correct everything it had tried to do. Now that little
shield
continually pops up with Updates are ready and I can't get rid of it. I
had
tried this whole download once before with the same four hour results.
Anybody know how to get rid of that download indicator??
Additionally, now a little screen periodically pops up with "The
program
encountered an unexpected error. Parameter cannot be null. Parameter
name
is
serializationStream." What the h--- is this and does anyone know how
to
stop
that popup ?? Thanks for any info.
