Thanks, Neil, for the excellent suggestions. I too have been stung by cheap
media. I had tried HP disks and Verbatium with the same results. I have
tried buring a 2nd and 3rd time on various disks and my DVD player will
accept all types or +R, etc. When I open Movie Maker to burn a disk, it
promptly closes to use DVD Maker instead. Is that normal in Vista?

Oh, yes - I haven't used it for a while like that, I author DVDs on my
Mac Mini - hah !

NTSC is set. My daughter created this show. I don't think she included any menus.
When I play these disks on my computer it is not detected by Auto-play. I
double click on VTS_01_1.vob to get it to run. Could there be issues with
menus?

It's possible for sure. I'm figuring you've successfully done this
before or since, with one of your own projects ?

I think the best place to ask this might be on PapaJohns' site forums,
he's a moviemaker / DVD maker expert so he has probably got a good
grip of what's needed or likely to fall over.

His site address is : http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net
Subscribe too, to his newsletter for more hints + tips ;-)

I am using Vista Home Premium and Windows Movie Maker to produce a video. I
have followed the wizzard to create a DVD. It takes several minutes to burn
the disk (dvd-r) and goes to the completed project message. When I try to
play it on a DVD player connected to my TV, I get a "Cannot Read Disk"
message. The disk will play with Media Player on the computer. Any
suggestions?

If you've got some more of those DVD-R blanks, try burning it again in
case the particular blank you had was damaged in some way. DVD blanks
are commodity items, and you may get what you pay for in terms of
reliability.

Not all DVD players support DVD-R and/or DVD+R, this would normally be
listed as a feature in the machines manual - this page suggests ~93%
support for DVD-R, ~89% for DVD+R blanks http://www.videohelp.com/dvd
which is I guess based on household DVD players surveyed.

Finally, if 2 burns don't work you could either try DVD+R instead, or
a different manfacturer (or batch) to see if that helps.

If you're in a PAL TV region (usually Europe), ensure you've not got
moviemaker somehow burning NTSC (US) format and vice versa
