To add to VGreen's remark - I forgot VDub could work with MPEG4.

It's a veritable swiss army knife, and will reward any time spent
learning the detailed transformations and filters - it's the #1 tool
for rotating an AVI 90º whcih was taken in portrait mode but intended
to be landscape and vice-versa (for example)
