I like to listen to music while using my computer. When I play CDs they spin
at maximum drive speed - this is incredibly noisy. This occurs regardless of
the music software I use.
Is it possible to change the spin speed to 1x? I figure there should be a
setting somewhere in the registry, but wouldn't have a clue where (and am not
technically competent enough to search for it).
Not really a windows media question, more of an OS question, but there are ways to set the speed of reading from the drive. I have Nero installed for my DVD burner and through their drive speed tool, I can drop the read speed down to 8x. I believe that there may be a free download of the software available.
