All valid questions. No it was not like this before, however since I wasn't
paying attention, I'm not sure when this happened. I first noticed it when I
recently connected a new Xbox 360 Elite. I downloaded the media extender
software so that the Xbox would show Media Center from within. When I played
a song, I noticed the black box which appeared odd. So I then accessed Media
Center from the PC, with the Xbox turned off. I noticed the same thing with
the same song and what I described in the original post that I can see the
album cover, but not when I click on "View Cover". This does not happen for
all songs, there are about 5 that the album art does appear in both cases.
On the 12/20 I copied a Nutcracker album from CD to the Media Player, went
through the finding Album Art process, since it didn't detect it correctly
and it appears fine. Another couple of albums that appears fine are from
other CD's that I ripped about 8 months ago and it found the proper album art
with no problem and that also appears fine showing the "View Cover" artwork
instead of a black box.
Windows XP Media Center came with some installed music and some of these, do
show the album art when I select the "View Cover". What I notice is that the
albums that show the "View Cover", appear to be in a folder of their own
within "My Music", while the others appear all together in a folder along
with the JPG art cover work in the folder. The ones that are in their own
individual folders have JPG files of different size.
I have Media Player version 11 and have selected the option "Apply Media
Information Changes" in Tools and also in Options/Library - selected
"Retrieve Additional Information from the Internet" - "only add missing
information" - still it doesn't add the cover art in various JPG sizes.
So I would say that the video driver is not the issue and yes I have every
single MS update on my PC as of the 2nd Tuesday in December '07.

Is this a new problem or has it alwyas been this way? Did you recently
upgrade to IE7? This issue used to be seen commonly when folks first
upgraded IE6 to IE7. I think there are some image processing DLLs included
in that upgrade that affect system wide and not just IE.

Have you made sure that your PC is fully up to date on Microsoft Update?

Also make sure your video driver is up to date from your PC manufacturer's
website or the video card maker's website. Don't trust Microsoft Update on
this one.

In Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005, I select Music and all the albums
appear with the correct cover of each of the albums. Then I select the
actual album
cover and the screen shows "Album Details". I can see the album cover art
work with the name of the album displayed up top.

From that screen when I click Play and the "View Cover" is selected, it
displays a black box - album cover is missing and same goes for the lower
left corner of the screen.

So there is cover art, but it won't display in the "View Cover" display. How
can I corrrect this? Should I deselct all the folders that Media Center uses
to find music and then reselect them again so that it will properly create
the art work for the "View Cover" to display on that screen?- Hide quoted text -

I am having same issue, if anyone finds a fix or cause I'm interested
.
