I wonder what software you used to make the DVDs ?
Do commerical (purchased) DVDs work OK ?
Typically, DVDs can use 2 types of audio on them - PCM or AC3 audio.
Some home burning software makes PCM audio disks, though AC3 is more
normal (it's dolby digital audio). Perhaps you're missing asn AC3
decoder - did the error message indicate which part of the DVD (video
or audio) was causing the problem ?
Vista home premium and ultimate should come with a DVD video (MPEG2)
decoder, other versions you'd have to have that supplied by the PC
manfacturer or purchase it yourself.
You can check whether you've got a WMP11 compatible DVD video decoder
using the DecCheck program :
