Re: Video streaming problem with mlb.com

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

From my experience this is caused by an underpowered computer that is not able
to display the video frames fast enough (hence it drops some.) Since this is a
new computer it could be an issue with your video drivers or background
processes. I'd start there.

On Statistics, it shows that I am not losing any packet loss. But I did
notice on frames per second, it shows 29, but Actual Rate is 0.5 to 1.5,
something like that. So that seems to be where the problem is centered. Can I
do anything about that?
Thanks,
Mark

I am having a problem streaming the 700k version of baseball games on
mlb.com. I just purchased a new computer, Phillips LX3000. I have been
using
an old laptop previously and never had problems with the streaming. Now,
with
the new computer, I can get the 400k version, but the 700k version doesn't
stream, just audio and then a slide show with the video images changing
every
20 seconds.
It doesn't seem to be a problem with my Internet, since I can switch back
to
the laptop and get the 700k without problem. But the new computer is newer
and faster, and it still doesn't get the stream. The new computer has Vista
Home Premium, the old laptop has Windows XP. I have an 8 mega Internet
connection. Other streaming on the new computer, such as on
Courttv.com/extra
also doesn't work. It does work if I switch to my laptop. So I assume it's
some kind of problem with the Windows Media 11 player on my new Vista-based
computer.
Anybody have any ideas?

Pull up Statistics in WMP and see if you're experiencing either packet loss
or
frame drops.
