RE: Help, can't burn Cd's

Look for Sonic, Roxio or Nero in the Add or Remove Programs applet.

I removed Real Player & Viewpoint Media Player. Is there anything else I
should look for. How do I check the burner drive?

Did you check in your Add or Remove Programs applet? If not, you should.
Dell systems (along with many other manufacturers) tend to load up tons of
trial ware on new systems.

Optional CD burning software is always part of the package.

You should also check to see if your burner drive supports DVD-RAM, if it
does, uninstall the driver for that. DVD-RAM behaves the same way as the
third party burning software in this area.

We don't have those programs. We only had the Dell program, which I removed.

Windows XP with WMP 10, okay, the first thing we need to do is make sure you
don't have a third party software burning package that has a "direct write"
component. The two that I know of are Roxio/Sonic's "Direct to Disc" the
other is Nero's "InCD". If either of those two are installed, they can
prevent WMP from seeing the burner drive.

You can uninstall just that component if it's installed. It's your choice
to uninstall just the component (recommended if you want to use their burning
software for other burning actions) or if you want, just uninstall the whole
package.

Did you have this software installed and after removal of the offending
component do you have the ability to burn in WMP now?

Yes, it is XP. And I believe it is Media Player 10. Thanks!

Hello,

First I need to know what version of Windows you're using, Windows XP?
Windows Vista? Also I need to know what version of Media Player you're
trying to use.

Without this information I'm unable to give proper guidance for burning in
Media Player.

Our Dell computer had Microsoft Works, which I hate. So I removed Works and
installed Office Home & Student. I also removed Dell Jukebox. Now I can play
music with Windows Media, but can't burn Cd's. Someone suggested we download
Yahoo Jukebox, but that has not changed the situation. I have tried to burn
with Yahoo & it says that some of the files aren't on my hard drive. Please,
help!
