Don't surrender yourself to any future of music that includes protected files.
And don't do illegal downloads because, based on my experience cleaning up behind them, it seems that all peer-to-peer file sharing applications like Kazaa, etc. are installed with some very nasty spyware, key loggers, password snatchers, and worse. Those are very complex applications and the people who write those application are counting on getting paid somehow. And free music downloads sure doesn't pay that bill; malware does.
If you want to have permanent fair-use access to the products you buy then buy physical CDs and rip them to MP3 - not WMA. And buy what you want to own soon because it won't be too many years before every CD you buy will include its own malware that will be installed on your PC that will prevent you from copying or backing up your CDs. And eventually, you won't be able to buy a CD at all; you'll be totally dependent on downloaded music.
And downloaded music is almost always of inferior quality to CDs as well.

Aha... Well that would explain that. Seems like a stupid feature given that
the amp is desinged to play music over a network. If the future of digital
music lies in downloaded file played on a PC what's the point in making an
amp that wont play that music. Talk about pushing people into the arms of
illegal downloads....
Thanks for the advice.

If you read the troubleshooting section of the owners manual (page 114 in
mine) you will see that the unit will NOT play music that is
copyright-protected.
