Re: MP3

No kidding? Are they MP3 files? If so, there has to be something in the tag that Windows Media Player is using to recognize them as coming from RealPlayer.

Move them to a folder unknown to your media library by cut and paste so your media library will lose track of them.

Now you need to remove the ID3 tags, or at least all frames that could be used by WMP to identify the tracks as coming from RealPlayer - probably all the PRIV frames and the COMM frames - from the ID3 tags. You can use my ID3 Tag Backup program to remove the tags altogether: http://www.dalepreston.com/Blog/2007/01/removing-id3-tags.html, or my ID3 Raw Tag Viewer to remove just the PRIV or COMM frames: http://www.dalepreston.com/Blog/2007/02/id3-raw-tag-viewer.html.

If WMP still recognizes them as coming from RealPlayer, it is because the file names are still stored in the WMP library database. You could either rename all of the files or you could rebuild the library database.

Actually I found that the songs already were in My Music folder (as WMA
files) and when I opened that folder, WMP opened up but when I tried to play
the songs, a dialog box popped up and said that "The file you are attempting
to play is a ready-to-transfer copy of a file from your RealPlayer Library
which can be played only on your device (ie. my MP3 player). To listen to
this track now, play the original in RealPlayer's My Library".

If you plug the MP3 player into your USB port, don't let WMP synchronize to
start - it may wipe out your MP3s, I don't know for sure; I'm just
suggesting the cautious approach. Instead, go to My Computer in Windows
Explorer. You should see a drive there for your MP3 player. You can simply
copy the files to your My Music folder (or create subfolders under My Music)
and WMP should pick them up.
