It didn't remove the ability, actually. The online Read Me covers how to do
this. The old do-it-in-WMP way was really horrible when stores denied you
the ability to back up your licenses: you would simply never know. Since
those stores are responsible for issuing the new licenses, WMP is ham-strung
here.

But the functionality is indeed there. And the MSN Music license servers
are definitely still around. =)

do you think microsoft intentionally removed the ability to back up
licenses
or weren't able to implement in time prior to the release of wmp11?
i'd hope that the ability to back up licenses will be restored in a future
update. thoughts????

For years I have bought my music from MSN. Now I need to convert my
songs I
paid for to play on my new Zumo GPS for my HD. The Zumo play only
mp3. I was
really disgusted to find i cant convert MY songs for MY use. You
would think
the protection should allow our agreed use. If anyone knows of any
program
that will do this please post!

You'll have to exercise your fair-use rights here. If possible, copy
the content to CD by burning a CD from media player.

Then re-rip it as unprotected MP3 audio, for transfer to your Zumo.
