The one possibility I see, if you could ever get a Congressman or woman to stand up, is to reconsider the monopoly status of Microsoft as it pertains to Windows Media Player. When Windows Media Player simply provided an interface to your audio and video hardware, Microsoft was able to convince the United States Justice Department that Windows Media Player was simply an integral part of Windows and therefore not pushed on its customers by abuse of its market position.
Now that Windows Media Player represents a revenue stream for Microsoft, it should no longer have any preferential position in Windows over any other media player. To continue to charge its Windows customers for Media Player (and yes, they do charge - it's built into the price of Windows) and to force users to have it on their Windows PCs is an abuse of Microsoft's monopoly position in the market.

I want to shoot myselft in the head right now thanks to you. You have no
idea how much time and effort people pour their hearts and souls into things
that you have now just completely F#*KED UP!!!!
Has anyone ever suggested unhappy users form a class in a class action? Don't get mad. Get even. We are the consumers here, not the RIAA gang. If an ethical company like microsoft feels compelled to subvert the best interest of its customers because of threats from a music industry schil then we have a responsibility to balance that threat with our own. MS is just trying to cover its ass. The bully in the basement is the RIAA lawyers and we won't get control of our property until we go down the dark creaky stairs and kick their ass.
