Ben's role within the group seems to be to simply try to belittle any poster
who posts negatively about WMP. He doesn't offer any one any technical
support, he doesn't discuss any thing that could/should be done better. He
doesn't ask any support questions. So, I'm not quite sure why he even comes
here. Nothing he ever says is about WMP - he only talks about other news
group posters.

It's very much yesterdays news, however, maybe someone somewhere will
appreciate you're taking the time to point it out.

It's also exactly why the European Commisson forced Microsoft to
'unbind'
Windows Media Player from Microsoft Operating Systems. In the
European
Union, when you buy a Microsoft Operating System, Windows Media
Player is
not part of it.

That statement is Nonsense (r).

You can opt to purchase "Windows XP N" with reduced media
functionality, if you prefer. Most people given the choice would have
as much functionality enabled as possible given the pricing is
identical. Hence windows N sells virtually no copies, and is just a
marketing exercise to keep the EU happy.

Read the article at the link you snipped without indicating you
performed a snip.

Here's the link again:

If you don't like that article, there are many others you can Google.

How so? Nevermind, don't bother responding to that question - nobody
cares.

Anyway, if you, or the other poster don't want to Google for additional
info on the Euro Version of Windows, then here's a link to Microsoft's
website concerning it:

The other fellow called it "nonsense" and proceeded to snip the link that
showed it is not. The point is, that everywhere other than in the EU,
Windows Media Player is part of the Windows Operating System, when
Microsoft has clearly demonstrated it does not need to be. As such, you
cannot Uninstall WMP, you can only roll-back to previous versions.

If Microsoft wants to compete with ITunes, then it should roll out
separate software like Apple has done. BTW, I don't like Quick Time and
don't have it installed. The same with Real Player. I use Quick Time
alternative as well as Real Player alternative.

I am not anti-Microsoft. I really like Windows and WMP 10 and that's what
I use. Windows Media Player 11 is a mess IMO FWIW.
