Re: A waste of download time

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Microsoft routinely recommends not downloading software from companies you don't trust. Do you trust Microsoft?

I didn't mention it earlier, but I had a similar problem. When I went to
install it, my PC appeared to be locked up for about 10 minutes. I knew
something was happening because the hard disk light was on and blinking, so I
just let it run while I got some lunch. Finally it finished and then hung up
on closing down. I got it colosed down and rebooted and then I started to
discover that I had made a big mistake in time and aggravation.

I then wasted a couple of hours playing with the program to see if I could
modify some of the more obnoxious features out of it (like removing URGE).
Another huge waste of time - what "they" decide is best for you is what you
are stuck with - period.

One thing that I am extremely grateful for is that MP 11 was so easy to roll
back to MP 10. However, I spent a very anxious time looking for an
"uninstall" program and more time searching the MS website for a copy of the
old MP 10 program before I discovered how to trash MP 11. I am really pissed
that MS didn't warn people right up-front that their "geewiz" new version
might not be all that nice and that an easy roll-back was available.

Yeah, I agree Ms. Silver Lady, I've never had SUCH a bad time with an MS
product before. I know that many "computer nerds" consider MS software to be
"sloppy and buggy", but most of their stuff is OK for me, but this.......!

having tried to download the wmp11 and doing so successfully, I was shocked
upon trying to play it, to find it just closed the computer right down, even
removing it had little effect, had to role the computer back two days to sort
it, and go back to the older version.
I have always trusted Microsoft to come up with the goods but on this
occassion it was a totally useless excercise as it just through the whole
thing off kilter!
