Ditto. Not happy with the lack of control in WMP11. Cannot choose
colums all the time, etc. Think I'm going back to 10 if I can figure
out how... Is there any way to have mulitple versions of WMP
installed?

I feel your pain, buddy :). I, too, wish that rather than removing the
advanced features, they had put them into user settings. It seems the trend
has moved from personalization in Windows to standardization according to
Microsoft's view of the average PC user.

O.K. but how about a toaster setting like "advanced user" who wants to
manage things themselves. Advanced functionality need only be explosed to
"advanced users". Too many programmers / product managers seem to rule out
this kind of flexibility.
I regularly transcode flac into wma files which I then manually add into
WMP10's music library. Then I add any missing metadata using WMP10's "Find
Album Info" feature. Monitored folders complicate this process -
especially the timing of when newly discovered WMA's without metadata
appear and where they appear.

I think the goal was simpler functionality, not necessarily the same as
simpler to use. Many advanced features are just gone. They want WMP to
be the toaster of media players. Remember that advanced users don't fall
for spyware or adware, beginning users do. Beginning users are the target
audience of WMP.

I really have a problem with Windows Media Player 11's music library
management scheme. In Windows Media Player 10 you could take a directory
of wma music files and manually add them to the library via the "Search
for Media Files" menu entry from the tools pull down menu. In Windows
media player 11 this functionality is missing. It looks like the only way
for a to add music files to the library is either via playing them or by
adding the folder to the list of folders "monitored" by WMP.
I REALLY have a problem with this - I want to manually control when and
how music files are scanned / added to the library by WMP. Why did
Microsoft remove this feature - does it really make WMP 11 easier to
use?
Are any other users out there troubled by this?
Maybe I should bite the bullet and switch over to foobar2000 or winamp.
