Re: Auto restart...

Ok, wow this is bigger than I thought. I just noticed that lately when my
computer does too much it slows down and restarts automatically like during
the wmp 11 install. I also noticed that when I am trying to install wmp 11
that it shuts off right after it makes a restore point and goes to something
about the device driver (that I can't entirely read b/c it shuts off so
fast). And since every time I turn back on the computer and I get the
message I told you:
Error type : Windows stop error (A message appears on a blue screen with
error code information)
Solution available? : No
What does this error mean? : Windows has encountered an error from which it
cannot recover and needs to restart
Cause : Unknown device driver
Computer symptoms : A message appears on a blue screen with error code
information.
I think there is something wrong with my device driver. Not too long ago I
had another post on this site where something like this happened but my
computer shut off after about 10 mins. after startup (after I got a message
that said "WARNING: MSScript error"). When I sent in the error report
Microsoft said there was a way to fix it and it was to install the most
recent driver for my computer. I found somewhere (I can't remember exactly
how I came to this conclusion) that I needed a new ATi driver. I went to a
ATi site and downloaded the most recent one. Since then my computer never
shut off like it always did (after about 10 mins.) it just shuts off during
wmp install or doing too much. I think I need to get some different driver
(maybe some kind of ATi driver) to fix all of this. I have no clue what to
do now...Do you know what I should do? Thanks for your time! I hope I can get
this fixed soon...
Oh, and if you need anymore info. just let me know. Thanks.

That's a crash in avant.exe . If you don't run that or disable that, that
should go away.
This doesn't seem to be really related to Media Player... ?

will point you to general product support, which sounds like more what you
want here.

Sorry about that. I found something new that I have never seen before on
the event viewer that happened the exact time that the wmp crash happened.
It was this:
Source: Save Dump, Event ID: 1001
Description: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was:
0x1000008e (0xc0000005, Oxf7004b7c, 0xf3abda20, 0x00000000). A dump was
saved
in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini112806-03.dmp.

Now I don't know if that is the right thing so I included this too:
Source: Application Error, Type: Error, Event ID: 1001
Description: Fault bucket 315418281
0000: 42 75 63 6b 65 74 3a 20 Bucket:
0008: 33 31 35 34 31 38 32 38 31541828
0010: 31 0d 0a 1..
I hope this is the right info. I really don't know everything that I'm
doing. Thanks for helping me and taking up your time! :) And if this is
not
the right stuff just tell me and I'll try to get the right info.

My computer still shuts off and restarts on its own but now only
when I
try
to install Windows Media Player 11. It just shuts off right in the
middle
of
the installation! I get this message:
Error type : Windows stop error (A message appears on a blue screen
with
error code information)
Solution available? : No
What does this error mean? : Windows has encountered an error from
which
it
cannot recover and needs to restart
Cause : Unknown device driver
Computer symptoms : A message appears on a blue screen with error
code
information (for example: e.g. 0x0000001E,
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED)
Additional steps for you to take : Important: Please continue to
send
error
reports so analysts at Microsoft can study and try to correct the
problem
as
quickly as possible.
