It turns to black after saving it to JPEG. Same thing happens when I try to
save the still picture (a freeze frame from a DVD) into other formats.

It turns black *after* you hit save to jpeg?.
What if you save to other formats?

OK, now I get it... I'm pasting it into PAINT, but when I save the capture
as
a JPEG picture, the PAINT screen goes to black. The page is saved as a
black
picture.

All that happens when you hit (buttons+) Prt-Screen is that the image is
transferred to the clipboard, which is a completely invisible process.
After
a screenshot, you must paste the clipboard contents into a graphics
program
like Paint (step 3).

Mike,
In WM11, I've gone to Tools/Options/Performance, and slid the "Video
Acceleration" button all the way to the left ("None" position.) The
video
stops and starts again.
Then, I hit "Print Screen": nothing.
Then, I hit right Alt+Shift+Prt Scr. Nothing.
Finally, I try left Alt+Shift+Prt Scr., and I get a prompt to change
the
entire color scheme to High Contrast. Not what I want, obviously.
Are sure your instructions are referred to WM11?
Thank you,
Miguel

1.As noted, it's in the Options dialog (under Performance > Video
Acceleration)
2. Prt-Scr
3. paste into Paint or other program and save as JPG

I have WM11. Alt+Shift+PrintScr only takes me to a window asking me
if I
want
to turn on high contrast, which I obviously don't. Your instructions
tell
me
in that case to completely turn down video hardware acceleration.
How
do
you
do that? How do you take a screen shot after that? How do you save
that
screenshot afterward as a jpeg file?

I have PowerDVD in my computer and I can't find the screenshot

option
anywhere. How do you do it?

Use WinDVD or PowerDVD where there is such an option.

I read the previous correspondence under "Video Screenshot
Captures"
with
great interest as I have a similar poblem. I have WMP 10, I
can
play
DVD's
and I have "DVD Options" on my File Menu but there is no
"Image
Capture"
option. Why is this, and how can I make it appear??
