Re: Cannot play music/pictures on Xbox 360 once I downloaded WMP 11 be

Yes, that was me.
I can't blame the hardware since it worked fine before. Something got
changed in WMP11 functionality that is somehow different enough to break the
"Plays for Sure" for this receiver.

Weeks is ok. I am not going to die not being able to use either WMP11, or
conversely listen to my library from downstairs, for a couple of weeks.
If the answer is not a good one then I suppose I shall have to scream at
someone. I mean, the receiver just came out this summer, I have had it for
only a couple of months, and it clearly has the MS Plays for Sure sticker on
the front. They should not be allowed to break that, especially on a
receiver that costs more than my entire computer rig. :)

Thanks Neil!

Are you the guy with the Denon receiver ? I think I added some
comments in your other thread if so.

All I can say is I'll escalate this as far as I'm able to with MS and
see what falls out the other end - though it could likely take weeks
to get a useful answer (and it might not be good either ;-p)

I am telling you, as I have since Beta 2, there is something broken now in
the Media Connect functionality. There should not be anything we have to
do
other than set up the share. I have a "Plays for Sure" certified receiver
hooked up to the network and it works under WMC 1 and WMC 2 under WMP10.
WMP11beta2 broke that, and so does the final version. So, the only way I
can see to regain access to my 10,000 high bitrate MP3s that used to play
just fine through my receiver is to roll back to WMP10, reinstall WMC and
forget about WMP11 since I have never seen anyone in the forums acknowlege
that there is a problem. I am sure that the issue these 360 folks have is
the same one I have. My computer sees the receiver just fine. I can set
it
to share just fine, but the receiver no longer sees the sharing computer.
Roll back, reinstall WMC, and it works fine.

Hi Shane or anyone else who can help,

This is my first time in the newsgroups.

I'm having exactly the same problem as you, word for word! Do you know
what
to do? I've tried downloading media connect again but without success.

Do you happen to know which version of WMC you downloaded ?

The functionality in WMP11 supercedes WMC and they aren't meant to
work side by side. If you can roll back WMP11 to v10, the full release
rather than Beta version should be out on the 30th, i.e. some time
today.

I used to be able to view my pictures and listen to my music on my xbox
until I downloaded the new version of windos media player. My xbox can
still
see my computer but cannot connect. I have same connection as you
(Router
and
network cable, not wireless)

Once you've got the full WMP11 release installed, start the XBox and
remove the existing partnership with your PC that uses WM Connect.

Then start up media player and try to re-establish the connection to
the new service running on WMP.
