Re: HELP - can't play video from the web, can't install Media Play

Also: The "reg parser" errors aren't interesting. What you should likely do
is delete or rename your wmsetup.log file, then run the WMP11 setup. At
*that* point, what lines containing "ERROR: " are in that file? =)

Zach,

firstly, THANKS for helping me out.

In the log file, there are these lines with ERROR in them:

ERROR: Reg Parser: Missing required component attribute 'TYPE'.
ERROR: Reg Parser: Failed to add component from reg. Result: 0x80004005.
Failed to Add Component codec_wmadmo to Uninstall.
ERROR: Reg Parser: Missing required Package attribute 'INSTALLTYPE'.
ERROR: Reg Parser: Failed to add uninstall information from reg. Last
result: 0x80004005.

These are repeated over and over again - presumably when I've tried to
reinstall.

As for the crash information from the event log, here are the events:

Faulting application firefox.exe, version 1.8.20060.25382, faulting module
wmvcore.dll, version 9.0.0.3250, fault address 0x000dcf42.

Windows cannot access the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\wmvcore.dll for one of
the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection,
the
disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this
computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program Windows
Media
Playback/Authoring DLL because of this error.

Program: Windows Media Playback/Authoring DLL
File: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wmvcore.dll

So if I copy over a new wmvcore.dll, will vidoes play in Mozilla or IE7?

And how do I install WMP 11?

Zach, seriously. If you can help, I will be forever indebted.

Jenny Lea.

I need serious help!

When I try to play a streamed video from a webpage, my browser (and
computer) crash. The video that causes the crash seems to Media Player
format.

I was pretty sure it was related to Media Player 10, so I tried to
install
Media Player 11. The install won't complete - it always gets to the
end,
and
then says that it can't be completed, and that I should try again.

I think it might be related to a .DLL file problem (one of the many
error
messages I get says this).

Is there anyone out there that knows anything about this problem? I
need
help!
