That sounds like that is an IE setting, then, and could not be modified
through the WMP settings.

As regards stations, that again is a feature of IE - you've got something
interfering with the ability of WMP to store IE cookies. That's probably
unique to some software on your system.

well, it was close?

re-named mediaplayer in regedit and the folder was recreated. MP behaved
as
if just installed - even the Performance under Tools->Options reverted to
default = "detect connection speed"! that vampire got his stake...

but when I started to play a radio station, the box w/? asking whether I
wanted the player to play inside the IE window never appeared, and playing
the station resulted in the MP being summoned, with the radio playing
inside
it.

Then when I started to play another station, it too brought up the MP
screen, with the first station being kicked out and the new station
installed
and started playing.

thinking of doing another re-naming, followed by another removal and
re-install. but basically, I'm still at square 1.

WMP stores the stations list as a cookie in IE.

2: You can rename the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer
to reset pretty much all of your settings.

#2 this thing will not play a station in its own "web window".
it
insists on always kicking out whatever station is currently in the
actual
Media Player, and connecting to the new station selected, but only
within
the MediaPlayer. I thought once I "removed" wmp9 and reinstalled,
I
would
get the box with the question asking whether I wanted each station
to
play
within its own window. that box/question never appears.

I had gone to wmp9 TOOLS->OPTIONS->PERFORM. and changed the speed
to
ISDN
64Kbps buffer=55 seconds. Even tho' I have "removed" the wmp9
pgm 4
timesand cleaned out the registry, whenever I reinstall the pgm,
if I
check
Performance, there it is: ISDN 64Kbps buffer=55 seconds!!!

it's like a vampire; I can't kill it! it keeps coming back from
the
"dead"!

somehow, somewhere, my original settings (and the decision re:
playing
each
station in its own window?)
are being preserved and made part of each "new" install, NO MATTER
WHAT
I
DO!!

How can I truly get rid of this thing= wmp9, and all the settings,
etc.,
so
I can do an actual clean (as new) install?
