Re: can't get MP9 to play inside web window and My Stations Won't

Dear zach(?),

Happy 4th! and thanks for your response.

I can go into regedit, but under HK_C_U\SW\MS\MP,
there is a folder called Player with a bunch of sub-folders, etc...

I am not really on intimate terms with regedit, which is a good thing in
many ways... so, I'm not real certain what you mean when you tell me to
rename the HK_,...,\MP.

should I just rename the MediaPlayer folder, or the Player sub-folder, and
then what should I do?!

will the MP run at all if this is done? what WILL happen?! will any of the
effects of the re-naming occur just by re-naming, or will I have to re-boot
first?
Do I then have to name it "back" to the original name?

can you tell me which of the little bits in which sub-folder control MP
opening in a web-window vs. in the MP, itself?

I hope you understand my level of un-sophistication about this,(sorry!), but
your suggestion certainly does make sense, in that it would explain why
settings are never reset, even after pgm removed, then re-installed.

thanks, again!

1: You're doing something strange with IE cookie management on your system.
WMP stores the stations list as a cookie in IE.

2: You can rename the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer
to reset pretty much all of your settings.

Am ready to rip my hair out over WMP9, and I don't have that much left!!!

have removed (via the control panel s/w remove) and
redownloaded/reinstalled
at least 4 times with no luck. running an hp laptop with P4 and Windows
2000
Professional.

but cannot get wmp9 to work properly.

#1 this seems so minor... when I go the the Radio Guide and then to
Stations to play Internet Radio,
I can select a station, ok, but when I click on "add to my stations",
nothing happens! I cannot add any more than 1 station to the list of "my
stations". The "added to my stations" drop-down msg. never appears. I am
also running Computer Associates Personal Firewall. I can completely
shutdown/turnoff this firewall, but no luck! I have www.windowsmedia.com
added to my Trusted sites, both under Internet Security and Privacy. no
luck!

win 2000 pro/MP9 runs fine at work, and I am able to use the radio just
fine. What Gives!!

#2 this thing will not play a station in its own "web window". it
insists on always kicking out whatever station is currently in the actual
Media Player, and connecting to the new station selected, but only within
the MediaPlayer. I thought once I "removed" wmp9 and reinstalled, I would
get the box with the question asking whether I wanted each station to play
within its own window. that box/question never appears.

I had gone to wmp9 TOOLS->OPTIONS->PERFORM. and changed the speed to ISDN
64Kbps buffer=55 seconds. Even tho' I have "removed" the wmp9 pgm 4
timesand cleaned out the registry, whenever I reinstall the pgm, if I
check
Performance, there it is: ISDN 64Kbps buffer=55 seconds!!!

it's like a vampire; I can't kill it! it keeps coming back from the
"dead"!

somehow, somewhere, my original settings (and the decision re: playing
each
station in its own window?)
are being preserved and made part of each "new" install, NO MATTER WHAT I
DO!!

How can I truly get rid of this thing= wmp9, and all the settings, etc.,
so
I can do an actual clean (as new) install?

thanks!
