thanks paul. i feared as much. well i dont have a media center pc and i
dont intend on buying one. It's clearly a gap filler until microsoft
vista
comes out and personally my 360 owning friends and i are outraged.
Microsoft
want to run the digital world and dont mind shitting on the consumer on
the
way. the 360 could run wmvhd files either from a pc running media connect
or
from a dvd!! easy!! so, why have i spent 2 grand on a 360 and hdtv?? not
so i
need to spend another 300 quid on a media center pc i dont really need.
An OEM copy of Media Center comes to about £80.
Let's assume they enabled the Xbox 360 to stream videos with WMC - with the
current 360 software you wouldn't even be able to rewind or fast forward the
videos. What if the network dropped, start a 2 hour film from the
beginning. Not a nice experience. Windows Media Connect just doesn't have
the budget for anything that complicated, and streaming video especially HD
quality is a lot of work compared to just pictures or music.
Even using a PC as a WMC client it's no different then just using a network
share, the software has no concept of network bandwidth etc.
