I have this problem as well...I have checked on the registry of my home
machine and work machine and at home (where this problem is) I appear to have
a line missing out of the Local Machine/classes/cidls section -- line
{f414-260 appears missing I've got line 261 and 262 but this is definitely
missing...I am sorely tempted to somehow cut and paste this line from my work
machine to home machine but with all the warnings about registry editing i am
very cautious. Can such a cut and paste be done and if so how...

If you deleted that folder on x64? That hurts my head to think about - you
should go talk to support. As far as WMP10/x64 goes... yeah, your problem
isn't something I'd have anywhere to start with.

I believe that you can *get* RealPlayer (which plays WMA) to install on
x64 - just don't ever uninstall it or try to reinstall it (TMK) since it
then says it doesn't support x64. But YMMV.

Longer term, Windows Media Player 11 may or may not be of help to you if
product support comes up blank.

Well then, what do you say support?
Is there anything to do?
As I've said, this seems like a common problem with WMP10 that forces me
not
to use WMP, as much as I don't like any other software - I have to listen
to
some music..

There is no x64 download - just the x86 version that came with your
system
that runs via WOW. Deleting that folder will trash WMP. Don't do that.
Since there's no native installer for you, your only hope is that the
system
prevented you from doing what you tried to do... =\

Internal Application Error is utterly unrelated to the player folder. It
should be related to registry configuration issues NOT in the player
hives
(so manual registry deletion is just going to be Really Bad and not do
any
good whatsoever...).

You need to follow up on this kind of thing with product support. That's
what they're there for.

Hey Guys,
I have a 64-bit machine, with the X64 version of windows XP installed.
After a few days I had it, in-which I did not run the WMP, I entered
the
microsoft site and wanted to watch a clip from there (the new windows
media
center, if it intersets you .. :) ).
I've configured it as always at first run('Get Media Details..', File
Extentions, etc..) and from that moment on, each and everytime I launch
the
WMP I get an error saying 'An internal application error has occurred'
and
I
don't even get to see the WMP.
I tried uninstalling the media player VIA 'Add/Remove Windows
components'
several times, I even deleted the folder and tried again - nothing
helps.
When I try to download the MWP from the microsoft site I can't find the
X64
version, and each file I download refuses to run on my 64-bit machine.
I've seen tens of people that has the same problem, read many posts
from
people that had the same problem, looked for Microsoft's Technical
Support
Articles - but no solution.
What do you think?

PC Details -
AMD64, 512 Mb of RAM, Windows XP X64, using an Administrator account,
no
other OS.

Thanks a bunch.
