That's "Error: Sharing violation"....???
*sigh*.
OK - rename %windir%\setupapi.log. Run the installer again. What are the
contents now of %windir%\setupapi.log?

The question was: what lines in %windir%\wmsetup.log contain "ERROR: "?
That's the same question to you. wmsetup10 is an auxiliary log that
rarely
contains interesting data. For example here it's not helpful.

Hi Zach:
I see that no one repsonded to your offer of assistance. I am
experiencing
the same problem - "Not possible to complete Setup - WMP 10 was not
installed."
Per your request, here's the contents of my wmsetup10.log after the
failed
install:
[*WMC Logging begun at 2006/2/3 - 14:58:32. Logging at level: '5'. OS
is
NT. OSVer is 5.1.2600.0.2180. System Lang is 1033. Prev version system
is
10.0.0.3646. Setup version 10.00.00.3646.]
WMC_CopyFile: File 'C:\Program
Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\lib\applet\WMPNS.jar' is newer than the version
to
be
installed. No copy will occur.
WMC_CopyFile: File 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\wmpns.dll' is newer than the
version to be installed. No copy will occur.
Current command line: '/Shortcuts /RegExts'.
Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated. I have a web
conference scheduled for 10:00 AM EST on Feb. 7, 2006, and need WMP 10
installed in order to view/participate.
Thank you for your kind consideration in responding to my request.
Kindest regards,

Hi everyone,
Just formatted and installed windows xp pro in my machine. I run all
the
updates, it is a clean instalation and everything seems to be
working...
except media player 10.
The first time i tried to run it said it was not properly installed
and
asked if i wanted to install from the website (no other option). I
download
again and when installing i always get the same error "It was not
possible
to
complete setup. Windows Media Player 10 was not installed. To update
windows,
run windows media player setup again". It does not have an error
code
and
only "finish" button....
Because now it is fashionable to blame firewalls, mine is off :)))
Any help???
.
