Any help for using WM Encoder 7?

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I posted a little while back about wanting to edit some video clips. Neil
Smith suggested WM Encoder 7. I downloaded it, and it seems to run fine.
But I can't figure out how to use it for editing. All I was able to do was
start a new encoding session (it wouldn't open the video clip in question, a
..wmv file, except in an Encoding session) and save the file with a new name.
But I couldn't figure out how to edit out some audio, or lop off a bit at
the front or back.

If anyone has some quick instruction, or can point me to a web site, I would
be very grateful.
