WMP and picture and fax viewer

Suddenly, I can't play video files... wmp opens and shows the first frame,
audio plays....comp locks up. only off button works. Tried lots of things
then reformatted and reinstalled XP. No change, except now pic & fax viewer
won't show pics.

Have reset folders and restored to defaults in folder options.

No thumbnails show, doubleclicking on a jpeg icon does nothing. Right
click-open with pic 'n fax viewer does nothing. Photoshop opens pics.

Getting desperate and V.pi****ed off. Can anyone help??

Am using all original drivers...
