I cannot Install Media Player 10 on my XP

I recently restore my computer to a later date and the restoration took off
my Media Player, I tried to install it agin but my computer is telling me the
player is not compatable with the version of my window. I do have win XP with
SP 2 on it and have all the recent updates. Also I tried to restore my
computer to later date and it is not letting me.
can someone help. Thank you
