Re: WINDOWS MEDIA FILE EDITOR - HELP!!!

Yes, well this has changed somewhat since v4 which uesd flat text
files. The "script" file is now an XML file format - which is generally
a *good thing* as it can be machine processed easily with scripts.

But editing in notepad is going to be a much more hazardous than
before (You might want to look at programs like microsofts XML Notepad
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/xmlnotepad.html or XMLSpy
http://www.altova.com/products_ide.html before going further).

The actual file format (because it's XML) can be defined by a DTD
document, so the format is documented here :
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmencode/htm/thebasiceditconfigurationfile.asp

A sample file is here : Try this and then in the file editor go to
File->Import Header File and see if that reproduces the example
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmencode/htm/sampleconfigurationfile.asp

And finally, if you want to create let's say a visual basic
application to do this, then you'd need to read here for the example :
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmencode/htm/postprocessing.asp

To be honest if you're mixing slides and markers with video, you might
want to consider looking at Producer (even though it's also getting
quite old now) cause it's designed to work with Powerpoint to automate
some of the production and publishing for you :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/technologies/producer.aspx
