No sound using Windows Media Player 10

When I play a sound, video, audio CD or DVD in WMP10 I get no sound what so
ever. I know my sound card is working becuase I can do all that using the
RealPlayer and Quick Time as well. One minute the Windows Media Player is
making lots of sound and the next thing I know is that the sound has gone
completly dead. Anybody out their that can help me on this?
