I've tried listening to the drive spinning and it seems to start and stop
before the media player then says no disc and the light goes off on the
driver.

I managed to part play a disc via the AOL player but it was very start stop
and jittery wich would seem to correspond with the sounds coming from the
driver.

I am at a loss what to do other than install a new drive.
