I'm a VJ and just upgraded my computer to a Windows Media Center laptop. When I go to play an MPeG 2 Video with either Windows Media Player (WMP) or the proprietary software I use for playing videos at parties (which uses Direct X 9), there is a huge delay between my double-clicking a video and it playing. At the bottom of WMP it reads "Downloading" and after about 20 seconds, it plays. 20 seconds is a LONG time when people are waiting around at a party staring at you and expecting the video to play!

Oddly enough, if I have a playlist of several videos the videos after the first one play normally. What the heck is this delay? Any ideas?

My old PC doesn't do this - it's instant gratification and it's much slower. This is some codec issue, I'm guessing.
