Re: Delivering .WMP to internet users.

Ypu actually end up with the same 2 options on the Public side- either 2 IPs or 2 ports. You *may* be able to route 2 ports on the external IP through the NAT to your 2 IPs internally.

Hi Mike,

I have taken your advice and added another ip address to the NIC

I now have x.1 (all the Websites are running on this and I can access with this from the internet as the x.1 address its NATed in my FW to the x.1 address) no problem here

I have also x.2 address available which I have attached to the WMS

What additional tasks do I need to perform to have it working over the internet. Do I need to NAT another external Ip in the firewall to point to x.2 address.

You help its much appreciated.

I still cant access the

Neil stated: "It's not possible to run 2 of ~any~ service on a single port"
I stated:"2 services cannot use the same port of an IP address."

linked MS article:
"for both IIS and WMS to use port 80, one of the following two conditions must be true:
. One (1) network adapter has at least 2 IPs bound to the adapter.
. Two (2) network adapters have at least 1 IP bound to each adapter. "

All 3 consistently state that 2 services cannot use the same port of the same IP. You would need to either use more than 1 port or more than 1.

I will still stand behind my original post, the easiest method will be to just open up another port

Hi Mike,

Thanks for this as a test I have opened all ports on my firewall for 5 min and it worked! Is there a way of having them both running on port 80 I think I have seen something on this on MS site and will have a look now.

Thanks very much for your help.

Are you running IIS and WMS on the same server?

"I have opened port 80 to the Firewall"

"The HTML stuff and the web pages
work without any problems"
---IIS uses port 80, and that is the port that is open.

"the .wmp file does not stream"
---WMS's default port is not 80; therefore, not open.

WNS & IIS cannot both be setup for the same port.

You will need to either
*Open the WMS default port on the firewall
*Change the WMS port to another 'standard' port that you do not use (such as 8080) and open that port

Hi,

I have successfully configured WMS and created a Publishing Point and all works fine for the users on LAN. I have opened port 80 to the Firewall and configured NAT for the content to be delivered over the internet for the training purposes. The HTML stuff and the web pages work without any problems but the .wmp file does not stream all I get on the page is the SMALL WMP window and every time I press play nothing happens.

Has anyone had this issue and do they know solution?

Thank you.
