It all depends on why and where the packets are being dropped. If a router is
dropping them, QoS or increasing its buffer might help. Reducing the overall
stream bitrate might also help. If you're using Cisco routers they have
knowledge base articles on how to configure for multicast traffic.

Thanks Mike
Yes i can see in the statistics that i have missing packets. I will ask the
network team what we can do. Is the only real option maybe using QOS or
something like that? would reducing the video or something do the trick?
Thanks for your help so far.

Hi
I have setup a multicast from a live encoder. The WMS server connects to
the unicast or encoder fine but the problem is - every now and then when i
am
multicasting the video i get a freeze frame. The audio still comes through
fine but the video may freeze for 2 seconds and then catch up. All users
complain about this. Any ideas?
I check the encoder and its fine like i can connect to the encoder and it
does not have any freeze frames its on the broadcast from the multicast
which
has the freeze frames. I have Unicast roll over enabled just incase users
cannot access the multicast. Should i enable buffering? i have it enabled
as
it is by default but not sure if i should for a live video? and is the
below
too high for a normal multicast?
The encoding is done in codec7 because the desktops are still using Media
Player 7
The video i am multicasting out is: 320 x 240
Audio:
Bitrate: 270
audiosample: 16 bit
channels: 1 mono
audiosample rate: 44hz
Video:
Data Rate: 207
Video Sample Size: 24 bit
Stream name: Video 2
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thankyou
Sounds like packet loss. You can view the Statistics in WMP to find out if
you're experiencing any. A multicast log file on IIS might help too. Also,
you
can try setting your key frame interval in WME to 1s.
