Re: MMS stream not available from Internet

This has nothing to do with using a web server, although you'll need to do some
extra steps to keep IIS from interfering with WMS using the HTTP protocol (if
they're running on the same server and both listening on port 80.)

A sample URL would be:
http://publicip/pubpointname

I know this is an old post but I can't find out how, exactly, you use the http?
What I need is an example of the url?
I have a web server on a static IP and the 2003 server on the internal LAN.
I want internet visitors to access the Media Server on the 2003 server.
I'm now at the point of making the announcement but can't figure out what
the url should be.
Thanks in advance.

Or use http instead of mms.

Do you have any firewall in place in front of your server? If so, you'll
need to open port 1755 on it.

I configured Windows Media Service for Video Streaming on a SBS2003
server.
The sample content in the default demand point streams on any LAN
connnected
device local to the SBS2003. The stream works if I use the external
server
URL, the lan ip, the wan ip (there are two nic cards), or the host name
from
any Lan connected device. However if I try to connect to the stream from
the
Internet using the same URL or ip address C00D1197: Cannot play the file
Here is the URL
mms://soapboxracing.com/industrial.wmv
It works fine from the LAN that the SBS2003 media service server is
connected too, but fail from the Internet. Anyone have any ideas?
