I don't need to. What you're saying doesn't make sense.
Think about this for a moment : The content is being encoded from live
streams. How then would the system "know" it was a 2 hour recording,
if it was live content being streamed in realtime ?
It's not clear why you're talking about streaming from WME yet
referring to "files" in this instance, a la "When I encode content
and send it to WMS (Push), Windows Media Player has no indication of
the duration of the video clip, and can't seek to a specific spot"
Let me try to explain how this works. I have a video (or audio) file on my home computer. Lets say it's encoded in Xvid. The Orb software runs on my system to encode the file on demand to Windows Media. And it does this at a requested bitrate sent by the client. It's not pre-encoded, and the end client can seek to any point in the stream.
Here is an example....

and
http://mycast.orb.com/orb/data/stream.asx?mediumId=OKIYFbbH&l=RoyJS&speed=128
This is a wmv file of "The .NET Show" that I have on my home computer. I downloaded it from Microsoft web site and is the 300kbps version. This is encoded in real-time by my system and streamed through the Orb Server (the data is pushed to there server in real time).
