Hi,
can anyone help? I'm running a web server and have installed Media Services
9 on Windows Server 2003. I am trying to stream video. I've created a
publishing point, which points to a video file, and this works fine under the
Source tab/Test Stream.

However, when trying to connect via a browser, I get the message that
windows player cannot connect to the file.

If you've set up the server to only deliver from mms:// URLs, and you
are testing in WMP11 then it won't work. The mms protocol is no longer
available in WMP11.

However, you said you are connecting from a browser. The browser
definitely doesn't know what to do with mms or rtsp URLs entered in
its address bar, and the http protocol is a convenience protocol for
streaming over port 80 - it doesn't *actually* talk http to the
browser and is intended for negotiation by the media player.

It seems what you said may not be what you meant to say - so, perhaps
it's time to discuss specifics instead, to avoid confusion ;-)
