Ok, here's an update on the problem.
I tried opening one of the non-working files in Microsoft's "Windows Media ASF View 9 Series", which shows misc. video and audio stream object data. After a short analysis, it returned the following error:
"Packet 234 has a send time (00:04.478) which is earlier than the previous send time."
So it turns out that all troublesome files report this same error, at the same position (00:04.478).
All these files have multiple bit rate based, with 5 video and 5 audio streams. If I try encoding the video with only 4 video and 4 audio streams (omitting the largest video and audio), the problem disappears. Also the same video encoded as one variable bit rate stream makes no problems at all.
I suspect that something is amiss in the encoding process; I'm using Windows Media Command Line Script Utility to batch encode several videos, but the underlying architecture is windows media encoder 9.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Or if there are any utilities that might be helpful?
Thanks,
Nick Moses
