Dear Expert,

I have trouble playing audio/video files outside of my internal network. The
windows media player 10 shows an Error: CD00D11B3 Network error whenever I
play (both on http: and mms) from the Internet.

The windows media server that has problem is on this link
http://68.183.95.30/default.htm

My configuration

The window media server service 9 series on Windows 2003 SP1

I configure my firewall to open ports according to the Unicast setting
instructions
on
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/serve/firewall.aspx#Unicast

However, I do not understand how to configure this one

MMS UDP 1024-5000 (Out)
Used for delivering data packets to clients that are streaming by using
MMSU. Open only the necessary number of ports.

Do I need to open one of the ports or all 1024-5000 port for MMS UDP?

Or there are other settings that I should do in order to be able to stream
outside of my internal network from the internet?

It's usually rather simpler to add the windows media services EXE file
to the win2003 firewall exclusion list, which then manages opening the
ports based on the requesting process rather than having to manually
open large ranges of ports.

Looking at the web page, the error is quite clear to me :

mms://BOB-COMPAQ/TeamConflict.ASF

BOB-COMPAQ can *never* resolve to an IP address, as it's not a fully
qualified domain name. You need to use either the DNS entry for
BOB-COMPAQ or the external IP address of that box.

My suspicion is somehow you expect that to resolve to the internal IP
address - it won't, and you'll have to investigate any NAT router
manuals you have for the network router to determine how to make that
box accessible externally.

The external network address of your internet connection is the one
which needs to go in the web page for testing, and the router has to
know to pass through requests to that box (you may even have to place
the server in the DMZ, so configure your security very carefully)
