Thanks all. A bit more info then: Those 1000 requests will be
essentially all different videos, average datarate 700kbps, average
video size 10mb. As to SQL, it gets murky here, but my limited
understand leaves me guessing at tables with on the order of tens of
thousands of rows with interactions between on average 3 tables at a
time. Mostly likely the stuff going on is still on the light side, to
a real SQL developer (which is not me!) SQL will be accessed by other
servers on a LAN, these servers accessed via the Internet.
I'm just looking for a resounding "don't do it, it's never work" and
I'm not hearing that so far which is good news. I welcome other
opinions. Thanks all.
How much bandwidth out to the internet do you have available? You'll need a
fairly fat pipe to serve up 1000 videos a day at 700Kbps...
