Re: Streaming WMS via HTTP on same server as IIS 6.0

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I am no expert, however this is how I got things to work and my opinion
on how it should work.

I have 3 External IP addresses with my ISP.

1) I purchased another router.
2) Attached the second Ethernet card
to this router.

This also provided a second external IP address for this router
I used a DynDNS.org account to access the second IP address by name.

3) Performed the port forwarding for WMS as you described on the second
router.
4) Entered WMS and assigned the WMS HTTP Control Protocol to the second
Ethernet
card IP Address.
5) I then tested by Opening Windows Media Player | OpenURL | and entered
http://{IP Address}/{Publishing Point}

All worked OK.

My Opinion:
The method Microsoft recommended
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=328728&product=wms works.
However, I don't know of a way for the Linksys Router to route traffic to 2
different internal
IP Addresses. I wouldn't expect it to. In addition when you route a port to
an internal address;
There wouldn't be a way for it to determine which IP address to send the
request to.

Good Luck
