I'm having the same, well similar, problems. The problem lies in connecting
to content on the wm9 server with wmp10 (guessing ver 7-9 would be the same)
on the mms/1755 port.

Running 2 servers, one with win2000/wm4.x (mms only) and one with
win2003/wm9 (mms and rtsp, http disabled). No load balancing.

Connecting to server #1 (w2k) I can successfully run:
    mms://win2k:1755/pubpoint1/sample.asf - from wmp10
    mms://win2k:1755/pubpoint1/sample.asf - from wmp6.4

Connecting to server #2 (w2k3) I can successfully run:
    mms://win2003:1755/pubpoint2/sample.asf - from wmp6.4
but cannot from:
    mms://win2003:1755/pubpoint2/sample.asf - from wmp10

Now if I try mms://win2003/pubpoint2/sample.asf (from wmp10) it *seems* to
work, but it just rolls over to rtsp (checked with a netstat command).

I have tested with permissions, protocols (duplicating the mms protocol
plugin and
using a different port), disabling fast cache. I am at a loss. Any thoughts?
