Hi,
I've posted this to SDK because it has to do with a rendering plugin for
Windows Media.
I've finally located an error that has been reported by some customers of
mine.

and your player has never had a rendering plugin installed, it will crash
the player.
Failed to repro in native WMP 11.0.6000.6344 on Vista (opening URL
directly from File ->Open URL)
Failed to repro in Firefox 3.0.1 Vista, by pasting into address bar to
bring up the WMP plugin within the browser. Browser was stable.
The same result in IE (which handed off the URL to media player)
caused no browser crash there.
In native WMP, error message shown was "A plug-in is required to
correctly play this file".
In Firefox loading started then stopped when the file header was
delivered. Right-click showed Error Details with the same message.
HTH
